Toyama

Toyama Prefecture is located by coast of Sea of Japan.
To the front of Toyama Prefecture is Toyama Bay expanding. In Sea of Japan about 800 species fish and shellfish inhabit there, and 500 of them live in Toyama Bay, so it is regarded as the place for fresh seafood treasures.
There are many sightseeing spots, and the symbolic ones are World Heritage Gokayama, Tateyama Kurobe Alpen Route and Kurobe Valley Torokko Train etc..

World Heritage Gokayama

In the area where Gokayama is located, it has an elevation of 1500 meters and is surrounded by mountains. During winter this area of heavy snow sees snowfall of as high as 3 meters. In 1995 Gokayama was registered as UNESCO World Heritage.
The architectures of Gokayama were built back to 17th century, and nowadays are still lived by local people.
With mountains around there are the brooks, rice field and old style gassho-zukuri houses. These are the old authentic Japanese landscape.
Being in this idyllic scenery and somehow nostalgic village, taking a walk makes people relaxed. Please come for such an experience.

Tateyama Kurobe Alpen Route

Tateyama Kurobe Alpen Route is at the elevation of 3000 meters with mountain ranges, and it is one of the world’s well-known mountain sightseeing routes.
Along the Alpen Route, no matter where you go it is the continuous gorgeous views, and the strikingly beautiful nature. There are just so many exceptional spots.
The Snow Wall Walk has a height of 20 meters; this dynamic snow wall looks so overwhelming.
When in between the Snow Wall and walk for a distance of 500 meters, you will experience the greatness of it.
If lucky you may meet the thunderbird possibly; this creature is called “Messenger of the God” from ancient time.

Kurobe Valley Torokko Train

In Kurobe Valley there goes Kurobe River that flows among the Tateyama Ranges. The Valley came into being after years of the river going through, and it is Japan’s deepest and largest valley.
In such secluded valley the torokko train runs for 20 km in about 1.5 hours for one way. Passengers in the train can see the view during the way.
There is no window on the train so it is open to feel the breeze and taste the harmony with nature, which is the charm for taking this trip.
Emerald lake, iron bridge over the abrupt valley and gracefully majestic mountains all make the greatness of Kurobe Valley. Please come here to feel such sentiment.
